Long thought to be lost forever, a print of the orignal film from Thomas Edison’s studio surfaced a few years ago. Enjoy this nearly lost relic! The ORIGINAL Vampire Movie!German director F.W. Murnau was unable to secure the rights to film Dracula, so he changed the names and made the film anyway, calling it Nosferatu! Nearly all copies of the film were destroyed after the lawsuit, but fortunately a few copies survived. While the silent film style of acting can take modern audiences some getting used to, Nosferatu’s influce on the later 1931 Dracula is clear, and in it’s own way, may still be the creepiest vampire film ever made!
One of the greatest Halloween tricks in history!
Orson Wells scared America into thinking we were actually being invaded by Martians with his realistic adaptation of War of the Worlds for radio. Well worth a listen, especially to the first half of the show, and his slighly panicky explaination at the end after the station’s phone lines were flooded with calls.
After listening to the radio broadcast, watch this early television episode
from the Studio One series about the panic the radio show caused some
people. Not only is this the first credited role of famous actor Warren
Beatty (a bit role as a card player), butI’m especially fond of this episode
because it was written by a neigbor of mine growing up in Roanoke, VA,
science fiction writer Nelson Bond!
Cheesy Monster Movies!
Sometimes, you don’t want a scare, you just want something to laugh at! Here you go!
